Amla is also know as indian gooseberry. The whole plant is used in ayurvedic herbal products: the fruit, seeds, leaves, root, bark and the flowers. Its fresh or dried fruit is used in cosmetics.
Amla has high content of Vitamin C, so it protects from free radicals, cleans the scalp and the hair, prevents hair loss, early graying, dandruff and infections. Its regular use helps keeping the natural shine and color of the hair. In addition it strengthens the hair follicles, calms the skin, prevents inflammation and tightens the pores.
Ways to use this amla powder:
Hair dyeing: you can mix it into any natural vegetable hair dye, so you get a more intense color. Mixed with henna powder you can use it as a hair mask. Mix henna and amla powder into a thick paste, apply and let it rest on your hair, then wash your hair.
As a shampoo: amla powder can be used as a natural shampoo. You will need 1-2 tablespoons of amla powder (according to the length of your hair), pour boiling water on it, and mix them until you get a homogeneous paste. Let it cool to body temperature, apply it on wet hair, and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. If you leave it on for 30 minutes it will be even more effective on the scalp and hair.
For skin care: excellent skin cleanser. Mix 1 tablespoon of powder with warm water, massage it into your skin, you can let it rest for 10 minutes. Rinse thorougly, and apply rosewater. You can use it on your whole body as a mask. Skin brightening, exfoliating and anti-acne effect.
Instructions:
1, Mix an appropriate amount of powder with water, making a thick paste.
2, Gently massage it into your scalp.
3, Let it rest for 30-45 minutes.
4, Rinse with water!
