The BERTA company (later called Bio Drog Berta Ltd.) was founded in 1990 for organic vegetable, fruit and herb production by dr. Berta Zoltán, dr. Bertáné Nagy Ágnes, and their children, Berta Ágnes and Berta Balázs. Bio Berta is a pioneer of the Hungarian organic production, and have been helping the Hungarian organic food production to emerge.
They improved the business gradually, and in 1995 they created a producer's enterprise on a land more than 80 ha, which is owned by 57 families. They produce 24 different species of plants on the irrigated parcels, according to the highest European standards. Their produce is processed in a processing plant built in 1995 and constantly improved to this day.
