Eco-friendly, natural bamboo interdental brushes with BPA-free, castor oil based bristles. For safe and thorough oral care.
Find the right size
The Interdental Brush should be pushed into the interdental space with gentle pressure. Never use force. If you cannot get the brush between your teeth, pick a smaller size. If it is very easy to get the brush between the gaps and it hardly touches your teeth, you should use a larger brush.
Between the teeth
Place the Interdental Brush on top of the gum and push it gently between your teeth. If you have chosen the correct size, the brush will find its way almost on its own. Now move the brush horizontally back and forth a few times. To guarantee even better results, you can also tilt the brush slightly and clean in an “X” movement.
No toothpaste
It is best to use the brush daily, and you should never use toothpaste. After use, you will notice plaque on the bristles. You can simply wash this off under running water. You should change the Interdental Brush after 7 to 14 days. Once you have cleaned your interdental spaces, you can brush your teeth as usual.
If you are not sure about how to use the Interdental Brush, ask your dentist for advice. Every set of teeth is different, just as all people are different. After a look inside your mouth, the experts can give you individual advice on cleaning your interdental spaces.
Q&A from Hydrophil
1. What does hydrophil mean?
We are in love with water and the word 'HYDROPHILIC' comes from Greek and means: water loving. We all need water - this wonderful resource - to live, every living being arises from a drop of water. To have future generations profit from our water we want to use, domesticate and pollute as little water as possible.
Our project HYDROPHIL has the basic idea to contribute to the topic of water in a deliberate way. In our shop you can buy water neutral, vegan & fair trade products.
2. Why water neutral, vegan & fair?
Water neutral means to us that goods are being produced water gently: We use natural ingredients that grow without artificial irrigation, e.g. bamboo. In addition, we solely use colours that don’t contain mineral oils or other chemical additives and that therefore don’t leave any residues in the drinking- and groundwater when composted.
We don’t want to put any unnecessary harm in the world with our actions. That’s why our products don’t contain animal products and aren’t tested on animals. All our products are fair trade because fair labour deserves fair wage. Period!
3. Why do you donate to Viva con Agua?
We deliberately donate 10 per cent of our profits to Viva con Agua, which campaigns for people living in the southern hemisphere to get and remain access to clean drinking water. We do this because in our opinion it must not be possible that by 2016 there are still 780 million people in the world that don’t have free access to drinking water. Also there are nearly 2.4 billion people that don’t have access to sanitary facilities. We want to do our stint to change that.
4. Why do you want to minimize plastic waste?
We are surrounded by plastic almost all the time - it can be used for several purposes and it‘s cheap. What’s bad about it: Plastic needs at least 500 years to decay. Approximately 13,000 plastic particles are found in every square kilometre of the ocean surface – allocated throughout the world by ocean current. It is estimated that the proportion of plastic makes 75 per cent of the North Sea’s waste.
Furthermore, most plastic products are made from crude oil and need great effort to manufacture – which accelerates the consumption of fossil exhaustible resources. So use of plastic should be well-considered and radically minimized.
5. Why make a sustainable toothbrush from bamboo?
If you deal with topics like sustainability & water as regularly as we do, you will often notice in everyday situations that there are products that aren’t optimal yet to suit an environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
Just as it suddenly struck us while brushing our teeth in the bathroom one morning. For more than a year we worked meticulously, researched, produced samples et voila: our sustainable toothbrush from bamboo was created.
The toothbrush’s handle is bio-degradable and plastic-free and consists 100 % of bamboo, the fast growing resource. Our bristles are made from Nylon and are BPA-free. Our sustainable toothbrush is available with mediocre-soft and extra soft bristles. Each sustainable toothbrush in an individual eco-friendly recycled cardboard carton which is also bio-degradable.
