Women's hygiene
Most feminine hygiene products are made of large quantities of nondegradable plastics, that have huge environmental impact, considering that a women throws away approximately 10000 tampons and pads in her lifetime. Additionally, there is research about harmful chemical residues in them.
This is why we decide to offer durable, reusable options, or disposable yet chemical free alternatives.
For those who seek waste-free solutions, we recommend menstrual cups and reusable pads. These products will save you huge amounts of money and garbage. The Ladycup is made of medical silicone, and you can use it for up to 12 hours, without worrying about Toxic Shock Syndrome. Our cloth pads are comfortable, they have lovely patterns, and can be washed in a machine. Reusable pads and menstrual cups are also great when combined together!
If you aren't ready to let go of disposables, then we recommend Natracare products. This brand uses 100% renewable and compostable materials: organic cotton, bioplastics and wood pulp. Natracare products are free from all ingredients commonly found in conventional feminine hygiene products: plastics, polyacrylate superabsorbents, petroleum derivatives, synthetic ingredients, latex and perfumes. Unlike other commercial products, Natracare tampons and pads are chlorine free. This is important, because a by-product of chlorine bleaching is dioxine, a known carcinogene, that accumulates in living organisms. Natracare uses oxygen bleaching because that is the safest process environmentally.
