According to the research of Dakota State University, rapeseed oil reduces the risk and size of colon cancer in tested animals. Scientists say rapeseed oil in everyday cooking may have a role in prevention of colon cancer.
Professor Chandradhar Dwivedi, head of SDSU’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences says that the results are showing, rapeseed oil reduces colon cancer in animals by 1/3. In the test rapeseed oil reduced the frequency by 60%, and the size of the tumor by 90%.
Researchers say although flaxseed oil contains more omega-3 fatty acids, rapeseed oil is more easy to fit into the diet. The main advantage of rapeseed oil, that it can be used for everyday cooking. If people use rapeseed oil instead of other oils, it gives them more omega-3. An other advantage is that consuming rapeseed oil can level the propotion of omega3-6 to the beneficial 3:1, which is 10:1 in the average American diet.
